Program and Highlights

The Asian Heritage Month Celebration Luncheon was held on May 10, 2010 in the atrium at National Louis University.  This event included a Photography Exhibition, a Chinese Buffet Luncheon, Awards Presentation, a Special Presentation of the Chinese Chop Engraving, and a door prize drawing (winners must be present).  The door prizes were contributed by Press Division, Taipei Economic & Cultural Office in Chicago and the Chinese club of NLU. 

In addition, Natalia Jerzewski, Chair, Fundraising Committee, participated in WTTW's fundraising event  on 3/2/2010 (see photo below) mentioned by Ms. Judy Kent (CAD faculty) during the Asian Month event; also,  Orange Revolution DVD was one of the gifts to the contributors at that event.

Many friends, colleagues, students, and guests attended the luncheon event (see photos below).  The event was very successful.

Award Presentations  

 The Chinese Club's Achievement award is given based upon GPA.  Students must have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher in order to receive this achievement award.    

Two students met the club's outstanding achievement standards this year.  Each awardee received a $100 NLU check for NLU text books and an award certificate from the Chinese Club. Ms. Judy Kent, CAS faculty, presented the Chinese Club Achievement Scholarship awards to the following two awardees:

  • Joann Chan
  • Natalia Jerzewski

Also, our club members and officers were recognized by the Chinese Club for their hard work in organizing and participating in all the activities for the last several years.  Ms. Judy Kent, CAS faculty, presented the Chinese Club appreciation awards to the following Chinese club officers, alumni, and members:

  • Guo Ping Liu
  • Joann Chan
  • Ho Yan Chen
  • Olha Omelyukh
  • Jin Wen Zhao  

In addition, the Club mailed the appreciation awards to the following alumni and member who were not able to attend the event:

  • Catherine Kwong
  • Rebecca Young
  • Xiao Yan Chen
  • Jian Hong LI 
  • Carol Yu
  • Joanne Huang
  • Natalia Jerzewski
