An Introduction to the Comprehensive Literacy Model (CLM) K-9

This institute will introduce a seamless comprehensive school improvement framework that uses a workshop approach for differentiating instruction, including whole-group, small group, and one-to-one conferences. Organizational and instructional methods will be discussed, including guided reading, literature discussion groups, shared reading, mini-lessons, and other literacy-related topics. A variety of speakers will present on topics related to leadership, literacy coaching, professional learning communities, intervention groups for struggling learners, and systematic assessment systems. Video examples and materials from schools will illustrate how school teams are currently implementing comprehensive literacy framework.

An Introduction to the Comprehensive Intervention Model (CIM) – Supplemental small group instruction K-9

This institute will assist school teams in planning and providing evidence based, highly effective, and tailored interventions for reversing learning difficulties. A variety of speakers will provide examples from a portfolio of approaches within the Comprehensive Intervention Model which includes Reading Recovery and small group instruction aligned with core curriculum. Both Reading Recovery and CIM are research evidenced models for meeting the intentions of the Response to Intervention (RTI) approach.
