Doctoral Programs

Welcome to the NCE Doctoral Home Page. This page includes crucial information and links to ensure all candidates for our Doctoral Degrees have current and up-to-date information about our five NCE Programs.

As a doctoral community we fully endorse the NCE Philosophy that "NCE Faculty and Candidates use scholarly habits of mind and methods of inquiry" and acknowledge that the challenge of incorporating existing knowledge into school-based practices is not simply one of making knowledge available, but of continuously investigating the interrelationship between theory, research, and educational practice. This assumes that educational leaders are able to think critically, flexibly, and creatively about educational systems, learning environments, teachers, and learners. Such leaders can function effectively as leader practitioners, academic scholars, researchers, or policy makers. The doctoral program at the National College of Education is designed to prepare individuals for leadership in any of these areas.

The five NCE Doctoral Programs are each unique and cutting edge programs that have been recently revised or are in the process of major revisions. I encourage you to review each program carefully to see which program best meets your needs.

We also have available scholarships to support your academic work. The scholarships are offered on a "need based" basis and come in the form of tuition reimbursement.

Each Spring we have a Doctoral Symposium that brings together candidates from all our programs and candidates and recent graduates share their research and tips for completing the programs and beginning a new career with the doctorate from the National College of Education at National-Louis University.

If I, or any of the Doctoral Directors, can be of assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us. NCE has a long and proud history of doctoral programming and are pleased to welcome you into our community.
