Veteran Benefits

All questions regarding entitlement to Veterans Benefits should be directed to the Department of Veterans Affairs at 888.442.4551.

Students are responsible for any overpayments made by the Veteran's Administration based on changes in registration status.

Veterans attending a campus outside of Illinois, please contact the National-Louis University VA Certifying Official in that state.

How to Apply for Veterans Benefits through National-Louis University

If you have been officially admitted into National-Louis University and you wish to apply for Federal Education Assistance under the Montgomery GI Bill as an undergraduate or graduate student at a National-Louis University Illinois campus, you may obtain the appropriate forms from various offices on campus, including the Office of the Registrar, the Student Finance Office, Student Services, or Enrollment Services.

If you would like to use your VA benefits for the first time, you must fill out an

If you have already received VA benefits at National-Louis University and you are entering a new field of study, OR if you have received VA benefits at a different institution, you must complete a

  • Request for Change of Program or Place of Training (PDF FormatForm 22-1995)

Please send the appropriate form, along with a copy of your

  • DD-214

If you have applied and received the Certificate of Eligibility, please send it to the VA Certifying Official at the Wheeling Office of the Registrar.

The Certifying Official will keep copies of all forms. originals will be forwarded to the Department of Veterans Affairs Regional Office in St. Louis, MO.

Once you are enrolled, the Certifying Official will send:

  • an Enrollment Certification [form 22-1999] at the end of the add/drop period for each term you are enrolled.
  • an email confirming the submission of your documents to the VA.

You may also apply for Veterans benefits directly through the Department of Veterans Affairs.

In that case, please send a copy of your forms to:

First Time Educational Benefits Users

The following is required before requests for Veterans Benefits can be processed:

  • Be admitted to National-Louis University
  • Complete an Application for VA Educational Benefits (PDF FormatForm 22-1990)
    [If Chapter 35, usePDF FormatForm 22-5490.]
  • Return the form along with a copy of Form DD-214 to:
    Attn: VA Certifying Official
    c/o Office of the Registrar
    National-Louis University
    1000 Capitol Dr.
    Wheeling, IL 60090

If choosing to submit the necessary documentation directly to Department of Veterans Affairs, please forward copies to the above address. The National-Louis University VA Certifying Official will complete Enrollment Certification (Form 22-1999) and send it to the Department of Veterans Affairs at the end of the add/drop registration period for each term of enrollment.

Educational Benefits are paid directly to the student, and the student is responsible for tuition payments to the University. Chapter 31 Vocational Rehabilitation benefits are paid directly to National-Louis University.

Educational Benefits Users (from another institution)

The following is required before requests for Veterans Benefits can be processed:

  • Be admitted to National-Louis University
  • Complete a Request for Change of Program or Place of Training (PDF FormatForm 22-1995)

  • Return the form along with a copy of Form DD-214 to:
