Technology in Education Master's Program (M.Ed., M.S.Ed., and C.A.S.)

National Louis University's Technology in Education master's program prepares graduates so they can effectively integrate technology across the curriculum, as well as support the effective use of it by other educators.

Consider getting your Technology in Education (TIE) degree at National Louis University (NLU) if you:

  • Are interested in increasing your role as a professional in the area of educational technology
  • Want to use and model research-based best practices in the integration of technology in the P-12 curriculum
  • Would like to mentor and provide technical assistance to K-12 teachers in their planning and implementation of technology in the classroom
  • Inspire to practice collaborative inquiry with students and professionals to assess and improve technology in the learning environment

Earn Your Technology in Education Master's Degree Online

The online Technology in Education program at NLU is an option for those who would like to complete their degree through computer-based classes, lectures and interactive communications. This gives you the power to study when it's most convenient for you and because the curriculum parallels the traditional TIE program, you study the same concepts as you would on campus. Offered as a 20 month online cohort, students will be required to attend a two-day residency at the beginning of the program.

The Technology in Education program is available to students who wish to obtain either a Master of Education (M.Ed.) or a Master of Science in Education (M.S.Ed.) degree. Teachers who already hold a master's degree may be interested in the Technology in Education Certificate of Advanced Study (C.A.S.) option.

Why NLU for Graduate Education

NLU has a long-standing reputation for its education and teacher training programs, and is accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE). Since 1886, we've trained thousands of educators and continue to graduate the majority of Illinois' Golden Apple Award winners—one of the most prestigious teacher honors in the state.

NLU is continually adapting its Technology in Education curriculum to stay current with changes in technology and better prepare teachers for the 21st century classroom. The TIE faculty is regularly engaged in collaborative relationships with local schools to expand integration of technology and achievement of technology standards.

The TIE program is offered in two formats: a traditional on-campus program with once-a-week evening classes or a 20 month online cohort model with a two-day residency at the beginning of the program.

What You Will Learn

  • How to develop and manage technology-rich classrooms and buildings

The Technology in Education master's program prepares graduates so they can effectively integrate technology across the curriculum, as well as support the effective use of it by other educators. Graduates of the TIE master's program may apply for the Type 10 Technology Specialist certification (K-12).
